Production Lead
Position Summary
Production Lead will monitor and assist the Production Supervisor in work order production, provide aide to ensure safe work practices, provide additional training/guidance, use essential skills of problem solving and decision making, and escalate any issues as required. The Production Lead will spend at least 50% of work time as a Machine Operator or training Machine Operator, Packers, and other production workers to meet company production goals and quality standards. Production Leads will work to rotate duties daily at direction of Production Supervisor. In absence of Production Supervisor, Production Lead may fill into complete day to day responsibilities of Production Supervisor. Production Lead will report directly Production Supervisor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Operates necessary production equipment
- Execute plan for the day set up by the Production Supervisor
- Communicate with production team member to complete work order, alert Material Handler of upcoming order, provide bottle labels to Machine Operator with cooperation of Label Compliance, and monitor material flow within manufacturing area, proactively trouble shoot order completion issues, may require need to work cross functionally
- Follow direction and collaborate with Production Supervisor for changes to plan after initial execution
- Ensure line clearance are maintained for every work order, verify order in WIP, and complete all documentation associated with work order to 100% accuracy.
- Escalate maintenance and production issues during work orders and assist to find collaborative solutions with varied departments
- Assisting Production Supervisor in training existing and new employees to meet company standards
- Provide feedback to Production Supervisor of process and procedure improvements to provide an increase quality of delivery
- Escalate observed employee issues to Production Supervisor for review
- Maintain a neat and clean working environment, communicate any mechanical or safety concerns to Production Supervisor
- Other Duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Will be required to know and understand all the company production SOP’s, Safety requirements and company policies
- Previous experience in Fertilizer Manufacturing Industry, preferred
- Ability to follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster a positive team environment
- Ability to perform all entry level positions-packer, powders, and machine operator.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in English
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Possess basic math skills, add, subtract, multiple, divide,
- Ability to interpret technical data from precision instruments as well as utilize a use general calculator
- 1+ year machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- 1+ years Supervisory and/or Production Lead capacity experience is a plus
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.
- 2 years of experience in a production line in a manufacturing plant environment required. Fertilizer or food and beverage manufacturing preferred.
- Previous Lead/Supervisor experience preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered
- Ability to lift, push and pull up to 50-70 pounds repetitively
- Physical ability to operate and repair machines.
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, and stretching, limited sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Education/Experience
• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. Associates Degree preferred.
• 2 years of experience in a production line in a manufacturing plant environment required. Fertilizer or food and beverage manufacturing preferred.
• Previous Lead/Supervisor experience preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered
Physical Activities
